Here’s some fun facts… Book labels have traditionally been known as bookplates, however bookplates are usually a little bit more fancy and not only bear the owner's name but also things such as the owner's motto, crest, coat of arms or badge. After the inscription of the owner's name on a custom bookplate it was usually followed by the words "from the library of...", or in Latin, "ex libris". Simple typographical bookplates are termed "book labels”.
